Enjoy an Orca Whale (aka Killer Whales) nature tour on Orcas Island's all weather family style boat and Renew Your Spirit with Nature.
The 42 foot "ECLIPSE 1" is a U.S.C.G. certified vessel. She offers a warm heated cabin and covered outside seats. We do provide you with full length raincoats, in the case of inclement weather.
U.S.C.G. Licensed Master Capt. Daniel Wilk was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Dan and Denise Wilk have 29 years combined island residency. Both have extensive boating careers.
We have a trained Naturalist on board and are waiting to share the adventure with you!
There is a small library for your convenience. We also offer the Orca Whale adoption program through the Whale Museum.
We provide special interests for the little whale watchers in the family -- coloring and educational books for their enjoyment.
Denise and Dan in "uniform"
for Free Willy II.When "Free Willy II" was filmed in the San Juan Islands, Dan and Denise were chosen to play the "Coastal Marine Patrol", with their patrol boat. We were thrilled to work with the great film crew. We had the privilege of taking the cast and crew out for a Whale Watch, and some saw their first Orca (Killer) Whales in the wild.
When you join us, we have the opportunity to see Killer Whales, Minke Whales, Harbor Seals, Dall's and Harbor Porpoise, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, and other sea birds; seasonally we may see Stellar and California Sea Lions, Gray Whales, Transient Orcas (Killer Whales), Elephant Seals and other marine life.Often we pass by Spieden Island where we can see European Fallow Deer, Sitka Deer from Japan and Moufalon sheep from the Island of Corsica. These animals were introduced to the Island years ago for hunting. Now, we are happy to say, it is a wildlife preserve.
On the day of your excursion, we will pick you up at the small boat dock next to the Orcas Island Ferry Landing . You are welcome to bring your lunch and eat on board.
Our Whale Spotting Service gives us coordinates to the area where the whales are feeding and information about pod direction of travel.
As we travel from Orcas Island you pass by many of the beautiful 172 San Juan Islands. We will see haul out areas for the harbor seals and the Eagle's Nests, each which have their own story.
